About Hedera Hashgraph
What is Hedera Hashgraph?
Hedera is a decentralized public network built on an innovative technology called Hashgraph, a distributed ledger that offers high throughput, low fees, and near-instant finality. Unlike traditional blockchains, Hashgraph uses a directed acyclic graph (DAG) structure and a consensus algorithm based on virtual voting and gossip about gossip, enabling secure and fair transaction ordering.

Why is it Different?
- Speed: Processes over 10,000 transactions per second with 3–5 second finality.
- Security: Asynchronous Byzantine Fault Tolerant (aBFT) — the highest level of security.
- Low Cost: Fixed and predictable low fees in USD.
- Governance: Decentralized governance by a rotating council of major global enterprises.
- Eco-Friendly: One of the most energy-efficient public DLTs in existence.
The Founders
